Fairy Dust

They could fly! They could fly I did sigh

Then I watched, as they took to the sky

I stayed behind, still stuck to the ground

I never did quite understand why

I was passed by the way, alongside

Amazed, I watched their fluttery ride

Out of the way, on my solid perch

Hoping that from their sight I could hide

I had ambitions, I had some dreams

At times they matter more than some schemes

I stayed on the floor, still on my feet

Fairies are still my favorite themes

I must always look up, never down

Between my toes to ponder the ground

Silence with no trace of my presence

Avoiding even my breathing sound

Though they might be just false and not true

Not something that I dare to tell you

The truth I’ve always known to exist

To have a dream is justified too

About Barbara Blackcinder

I am a poet/writer with a hunger for words. There are so many out there that I haven't used yet. They define all reality and especially mine when you read those from me.
