Butterfly In the Sun

I knew a girl who flew, but not with wings
She sailed along among numerous things
Here to there and back again
Always timed like a moving train
Never missing a single stop
Ever moving lest she drop
But the hummingbird wing is fast
It flutters for as long as its heart will last
Never to put off its living for a day
Sitting idly is never to be its way
And why anyone would want anything less
Too slow her down would be but a mess

My chipmunks bother me all day for a nut
Never to stop and ask me why or what
For it knows it lives only to live
Watching it is enjoyment is all I ask it to give
We get caught up in reasons for this and for that
No Cheshire cat, sitting plump and getting fat
So what the hell, as long as it’s fun
Everyone should have several days in the sun
Basking and dreaming of better times at hand
Lying in fresh air with a swimsuit full of sand
Ignoring the grit for a face full of sun
The remedy for the pain of everyone
