Coming and Going

Through an accident of chance
You meet a new boy
You flourish with emotional wealth
You marry and conceive
You drift apart and leave
A parting good for your health

But all is not finished
All is not done
There is still more to continue to do
Once again you meet someone
You engage them in marriage
And once again it is me and you

This is common, a regular action
Something most everyone does
At least once or twice in a life
Sadly it isn’t forever
This taking of a spouse
The declaring of a man and wife

Still there are names that remain
Things that stick through the maze
Of looking for a final path or word
Knowing you way back when
Before all this happened
A maiden name no longer heard

Surely changes have happened
To you as well as your name
Some things don’t ever change
You’ve narrowed your visions
Left things behind
And always have widened your range

You have gotten better likely as not
While finding your way through
Bouncing along with the pain
As it says, if it doesn’t kill you
You will be stronger
And always end up with a gain

About Barbara Blackcinder

I am a poet/writer with a need for words. There are so many out there that I haven't used yet. They define all reality and mine when you read those from me.
