Folly of Imaginations

Oh what a folly if I had once said

That I could ever be something instead

Of the person that I grew to be

Never content to be only me

If striving for the mountains along the way

It follows that climbing them would occur some day

Making me something other than myself

Dangling from the small rocky shelf

But even though dead is something other

Ending it by falling would surely smother

Any hopes of being other than I am

And quickly reverts me into the shyest lamb

So in my small efforts to be something more

I will use dreams to conquer that wild shore

Living through others and their adventurous souls

And be happily content to achieve lesser goals
