NapoWriMo 18 – The Mirrorless Image

We seek so hard to know one another

to know ourselves, so much like mother

And in our quest to learn more

we see ourselves begin to smother

We try not to see the failing of a friend

and hope the same regard they’ll send

So that mutually we will find at last

that we can agree in the very end

But lost in our efforts we sometimes will find

our self awareness caught in a bind

We lose our perception of our own self

as our lives and our visions are with lies lined

Denial of faults of those we meet

as casual as the way we greet

Holding back what we really think

denying the truth and being sweet

But more offensive than the lie outwardly bound

is a lie harder to accept on our own ground

The fallacies of ourselves are withdrawn from us

hiding and denying the crashes without sound

So down the road we stumble and fall

trying so hard to remain standing and tall

Lying to escape the truths of our selves

lost and withering behind our own wall

About Barbara Blackcinder

I am a poet/writer with a hunger for words. There are so many out there that I haven't used yet. They define all reality and especially mine when you read those from me.
