A Cathedral Is A Sign of Faith

Rising peaks beyond sight and belief

Climbing over the wailing and grief

High in the clouds where the spirit god hides

While humans suffer through many death’s rides

It seems to me that he could take better care

Of all these humans that he created there

Just once in a while, a tear should be shed

Just to prove that he isn’t officially dead

Because who could make such a singular world

And then forget where it was that he hurled

In the billions of planets and galaxies too

There has been only baseless rumors of you

But our spires climb to the heavens above

To idolize for you our faith and our love

While with the capacity to do ‘anything’

We waste our time to praise and to sing

Then you supposedly sent us your son

Then killed him quickly in front of everyone

What kind of sign is that to be proof

That you are not just a celestial goof

At least going through the written word would be nice

Making corrections, making clear what is vice

Denying the words of confused prophets and popes

Who make up the rules guided by nothing but hope

Or is it really just greed and mischief they crave

Not really concerned of a world they should save

A bloody history tells me of the real design

Self-servitude and wealth in piles left behind

Well I guess I’ll wait until the very end

To find where my soul, you’ll remember to send

But wait, why should I hope that you’ll see me after all

There is no heaven or hell, just an unanswered call

About Barbara Blackcinder

I am a poet/writer with a hunger for words. There are so many out there that I haven't used yet. They define all reality and especially mine when you read those from me.
