NaPoWriMo 6 – Facets

I’m not what I see in the mirror today

Tomorrow I won’t be what I saw yesterday

And though inside I feel the changes that brew

Inside and out are usually divisible by two

Yes it’s a matter of perception as seen

From inside and outside, I’m hiding between

A cloud or fog that has no grip

You judge my inside by the use of my lip

What I say is not always the same

Never more than the inside of my game

I may lie, I may just be unsure

All I know is that I won’t find a cure

I’ll go on as I have by and large

Suffering the same shoving as a river-bound barge

Not through ill winds that have pressed my sail

Just knowing the facts that changing will fail

It hopeless to think that an alteration might work

Not when too many emotions still lurk

Some mean and villainous, meant only to hurt

Just cause someone wears a blouse and a skirt

No, it isn’t indisputable on which side that we see

Because it’s always two, it occurs to me

I’m looking out, then again back inside

And you see only surface, not the pain that I hide.
